Raiders Going To St Louis

Everyone says the Rams should beat the Raiders this coming Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome. The team with the worst record in the NFL (tied with Jags) versus well… versus a bad team who has played well at home this season. Hmmm, maybe we should look under the hood a little more…

2014 Stats Raiders Rams
Net Yards ranked 16th ranked 15th
Pass Yards ranked 22th ranked 14th
Rush Yards ranked 9th ranked 16th
Tackles ranked 3rd ranked 9th
Def Sacks ranked 30th ranked 5th
T/O Diff ranked 32nd ranked 21st

Surprisingly (or not) not a lot separates the performance of the Rams and Raiders. The Raiders are a better tackling team and the Rams defensive line (especially of late) is very tough. The Raiders are the worst team in the NFL in regards to turnover differential, but the Rams are coming off a sloppy and turnover riddled game against the San Diego Chargers. A game the Rams gave away in the final second via an interception. The Raiders are coming off their first win of the season. I wouldn’t go so far as saying the Raiders have gained some momentum, but at the very least they are feeling more encouraged and after you win 1 game you believe you can win another.

This game will come down to who wants it. Neither team is in the playoff hunt. I haven’t heard any rumors regarding the stability of Rams Coach Jeff Fisher, but I would think he’d want to finish the season strong to keep owner Stan Kroenke on his side (if the Rams lose this game to the Raiders, Rams Nation will be calling for his and Offensive Coordinator Schottenheimer’s heads). Who executes? Who plays to their strengths? Is either team ready to turn the page and begin to play ‘next level’ football?

This game could go either way.  Analysts say Rams…  what do you say Raider Nation?
