Assessing the Wreck

Sometimes before assessing the wreckage, it’s good to step away for a minute.  Collect the thoughts, assess the wreck, and see what is upcoming before making any comments.  Without further ado…

*The Titans are a really good team

That is a playoff team with exciting young players and a great coach.  While optimism was there on the Raiders to pull out a win, it would have been an upset as the Raiders are not at their level yet.  The Raiders are at best an 8-8 team, which means you lose as many as you win.

*The Raiders O-Line Sucked against the Titans

There is no other analysis to say.  They need to put Jared Veldheer in at LT and get Mario Henderson off of the field as a start, Veldheer was not ready to make the line calls with only 1 pre-season game under his belt much less on the road in noisy Tennessee.  He does, though, need to be on the field.

*The young guys didn’t make a difference

It is a process, it won’t happen overnight…but then you see the difference the Kansas City rookies made in their game against San Diego.  Rolando McClain and LaMarr Houston have to make plays.

*Campbell has happy feet already

I get leaving the pocket early when the line is not going to protect him.  However, when he made slides a full yard before the 1st down marker, that is bothersome.  It does not send a good message to your other team mates when you don’t lay yourself out there.

*McFadden played hard

That was his best performance running between the tackles in his short career.  He ran hard, was fighting for every yard he could gain, and did great catching the ball out of the backfield.  Once Michael Bush returns, I think having some fresh legs might give him a chance to pop for some long runs which should spark the offense.

Overall, they got whooped.  We’ve seen that picture before.  Question is, with a young and beatable Rams team coming into town, will they start re-write the script?
