Raiders Close to Grabbing Hall from Atlanta

It was thought that the New York Giants were the front-runner to grab the services of cornerback DeAngelo Hall in a deal with the Falcons, but now, a top source says that it looks as if the silver and black of the Raiders may very well be able to grab Hall in a deal with Atlanta.  NFL Network’s Adam Schefter broke the story, stating that a deal could take place as early as next week.  Hall was reportedly in Oakland Friday to take a physical, he also met with Al Davis, Lane Kiffin and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.

Two things still have to take place for the deal to get done – the Raiders and Falcons need to agree on what the Raiders have to give up, and Hall and the Raiders will have to come to terms on a new long-term deal.  Sources say that Hall wants a deal that will make him one of the highest-paid corners in the league.  Schefter says that the Raiders at the very least would have to give up their second round pick to the Falcons.

Like him or not, Hall is still a top NFL corner, and has a ton of football left at just 24 years old.  He was the 8th overall pick in the draft in 2004 by the Falcons, and in his four-year career has 0.5 sacks He is one of the top shutdown corners, and if the Raiders can land him for a second-round pick, it would be a total steal.  The Falcons may be better served to talk again to the Giants, as it was reported that the Giants were willing to move their late first-round pick to Atlanta for Hall.
