Raiders Coach Jon Gruden Not Pleased with Antonio Brown Missing Practices

The Raiders have only been in camp a few days, but already there is concern about new offseason pickup Antonio Brown and his not being on the practice field.

Brown began camp on the non-football injury list with an undisclosed injury, and while he participated in a pre-practice walk-through on Sunday and was limited in practice on Tuesday, his missing camp is not going over well, and Friday coach Jon Gruden commented about it.

“I think we’re all disappointed,” Gruden said after practice on Friday via ESPN. “We think he’s disappointed. We’d like to get the party started. We’d like to get him out here. He’s a big part of the team.

“But for the time being we’re going to continue to work hard and we’re seeing the development of some other receivers we’re excited about.”

Brown was known late in the season last year in Pittsburgh to stir up issues during practices, and him not being on the field now is not going to endure him to his teammates or coaching staff.

Gruden seems to be taking Brown’s misses of practices in stride, but there’s going to be a point soon where the new #84 for the Raiders will need to be on the field.

“I want the guy out here as soon as possible. I’d like him to never leave and stay in the huddle every play,” Gruden said.

“But life goes on and you’ve got to continue to work and the other guys got to take advantage of these opportunities, and so far, they have.”
