Raiders Lose To Chiefs 13-31

Outside of about 5 minutes in the third quarter the Raiders and Chiefs played a very close game.  The obvious question is what happened in those 5 minutes (I’m glad you asked)? Aided by a Derek Carr fumble the Chiefs scored 3 touch downs. The first a 3 yard run by Knile Davis, followed by a 20 yard reception by Travis Kelce, and topped off by a 70 yard reception by Knile Davis.  Those 3 drives were the difference in the game and turned what otherwise was a close contest into another Raiders blowout (final score Raiders 13 – Chiefs 31).  This is the 4th game this season the Raiders have been beaten by at least 20 points.  The Raiders fall to a season record of 2-12.

The Raiders leading rusher was Latavius Murray with 12 carries for 59 yards (Murray has averaged 6.5 yards per carry in this his rookie year).  The Chiefs leading rusher was Jamal Charles who also received 12 carries, but earned slightly less with 53 yards on the day.  Receiving leaders were Andre Holmes (Raiders) with 5 receptions for 70 yards and Knile Davis (Chiefs) also accumulating 70 yards receiving, but his being accomplished via a single
pass culminating in a touch down.  The stats that most accurately reflect the outcome of the game would be the QB stats (below):

D Carr 27/56 222 4 1 0 4-20 64.7
A Smith 18/30 297 9.9 2 0 1-2 116

The Raiders have the Bills and Broncos remaining on their schedule, but more importantly at this point is looking ahead to the 2015 draft.  The Raiders need to address their pass rushing, defensive secondary, and receiving core.  Of equal importance is rebuilding team morale and bringing back a winning attitude to the organization.
