Raiders @ Broncos Week 3 Preview

20120930_073631_raiders600

Big game coming up this monday night for Dennis Allens’ Oakland Raiders. The Raiders are 1-1 and the Broncos are 2-0 and are dominating the NFL. The Broncos seem to be in Superbowl or bust mode. The Raiders on the other hand are playing very tough football under Dennis Allen. The Raiders are ranked 4th in total defense and first in sacks which is pretty impressive considering the Raiders defensive line was considered to be the worst in the NFL coming into the 2013 season. The Raiders offense has also been impressive ranking number one overall in rushing the ball thanks to Darren McFadden and Terrelle Pryor who has been running all over defenses. Pryor has given the Raiders the exact spark the team was looking for and this team believes they actually have a shot this season. The Raiders will have to be at their best on Monday Night as they will have to contend with the very best the NFL has to offer in Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

The good news here is that the Broncos can be beaten, this team is not unbeatable by any means. If you can get to Peyton Manning and knock him to the ground early and often, you can have a chance to win. And I believe that must be Dennis Allen’s game plan Monday Night in Denver: Sacking Peyton Manning. I believe the Raiders offense lead by Terrelle Pryor will be able to move the football on the Denver defense but the receiving core is going to have to step up. Denarius Moore did not manage a single catch last week against Jacksonville, that will not be allowed in Denver if Oakland expects to win. Yes, Darren McFadden has had a long history of successful games against the Broncos, many in Denver but McFadden cannot carry this team on his own and the Raiders cannot expect Pryor to carry the offense with only his legs. Believe it or not Pryor does have a arm and he needs his receivers to step up for him.

On the injury front, star starting SS Tyvon Branch is out and will be for sometime with a broken foot. Brandian Ross will be starting in for Branch but expect to see a heavy dose of Usama Young as well. Former Broncos now Raider starters Jason Hunter and Tracy Porter will be returning to Denver after they themselves had unsuccessful runs in Denver and will be looking to prove themselves yet again in front of the Denver crowd, this time to show that the Bronco organization made a mistake in letting them go. Raiders LG Lucas Nix is still out with a injury and the Raiders will go with Andre Gurode at starting LG.

Going into week 3, I do think the Raiders will keep this one close for the first couple quarters, but like the last two weeks Manning and the Broncos will pull away after halftime and put Oakland away 35-20. What do you think the out come will be? Do you think the Raiders have a shot and do you think they can actually pull this one off? Comment below!

I think we will do quite a bit better than most analysts or the general population of NFL fans think, but to beat Manning and the Broncos in their house will take some divine intervention.
