Bears @ Raiders Preseason Week 3 Preview

Here we go, week 3 of the preseason is underway. As you already know, the third week of the preseason is the closest to a actual football game as you can get. This is a very interesting game for the Raiders as they will be going against new Bears head coach Marc Trestman who was the Raiders offensive coordinator from 2002-2003 and called the plays for the AFC Champion Raiders when they went to Superbowl 37. The Raiders have been interviewing Marc Trestman off and on for the past several seasons to be their head coach and they always went in another direction. I for one am a Marc Trestman fan and never thought the Raiders should of let him go. So it will be interesting to see what he does with the Chicago Bears organization.

The Raiders on the other hand have their own problems. The Raiders need to figure out that they are going to do with their offensive line, if we can even call it that. As it stands, the Raiders are lineing up with one of if not the worst offensive line in the game. Alex Barron is simply not cutting it at offensive tackle and it looks like the Raiders have decided to go with Andre Gurode at right guard with Lucas Nix on the left side. Look for the Raiders at the conclusion of this preseason to hit the free agent market hard for offensive linemen.

On defense things are looking brighter for the silver and black. The Raiders are finally getting healthy and have gotten their two starting defensive tackles back to camp. Vance Walker, who will play Friday, is back after a paternity leave and Pat Sims is finally back but will not play against the Bears. The most noticeable is cornerback DJ Hayden who will indeed start for the Raiders opposite of Mike Jenkins.

What to watch for: I think we need to keep on eye on the offensive line first of all and if they can keep Matt Flynn off his back all night. With that being said, if Matt Flynn is given the time to throw the ball, keep your eye on Flynn and who he throws the ball to. Flynn is likely to stay into the third quarter and receivers Denarius Moore and Rod Streater are starter, question is who will emerge as Flynns go to man? Moore as been called out by offensive coordinator Greg Olson for his lack of maturity and Olson has come out and said that Streater is leading the receiving core with his work ethic and has taken over as a leader. I am interested to see this receiving group when healthy go to work.

Take a look at what offensive coordinator Greg Olson had to say here:
