Raiders with Interest with Ced Benson?

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Oakland is a team that is showing interest in former Bengals running back Cedric Benson.

The 29-year-old had 1,067 yards last season. He has not garnered much interest in free agency but Schefter reports that some other teams have been looking. Oakland has shown the most interest.

At this point, Benson will likely have to sign a modest contract and Oakland should pursue him.

NO! NO! NO! This is an example of someone Al Davis would have signed 3 years ago. I’d rather see T. Jones, Reece, and the other 2nd stringers fight for that #2 position.

There are many other Raider fans who agree with you. But this one does not. I think that if the team is forced to go with Reese, Goodson and Jones for any length of time. It would be very ugly.

I think this would be a smart move. We have to be realistic about what our situation is. No $ Cheap veteren back, thats coming off a 1000+ yard season, and he was suspended for a few games. Don’t forget that T. jones is a scat back. Benson will provide depth aswell as a solid and effective runner. Do the rught thng Reggie!!! GET BENSON!!

I agree with HPD. By your own logic, having another promising back to compete with Goodson and TJones makes sense. Why not?

  4. R8R Nation says:

Especially since we haven’t got a full season out of McFadden in at least a few years. It wouldn’t hurt the raiders to pick up another veteran back… The raiders could get benson for dirt cheap with his suspension last year and all. Let’s Go Reggie make it happen!!

What is the latest on the Cedric Benson acquisition? Is it that we just don’t have the cap space?
