Shawntae Spencer Comes to Terms with the Raiders

The Raiders on Monday agreed to terms with free agent cornerback Shawntae Spencer.

Spencer comes to the Raiders with a one-year deal. A second-round pick out of Pittsburgh by the 49ers in 2004, Spencer has started 72 of 98 games over the last eight seasons, totaling 345 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 11 interceptions with 53 passes defensed.

Spencer was scheduled to earn $3.3 million in base salary and workout bonus in 2012, which was the final year of his contract with the 49ers. Financial details of his deal with the Raiders was not disclosed.

After losing Nnamdi Asomugha to free agency and releasing Stanford Routt over the last two seasons, the Raiders have added Spencer and veteran Ron Bartell to the secondary in the last few days.

With coach Dennis and Willie Brown in the house, if we can’t resurrect Spencer’s career, no one can!
