Raiders Franchise Tyvon Branch

The Oakland Raiders Used their franchise tag on safety Tyvon Branch. The move will cost the Raiders $6.2 million against the 2012 salary cap. Branch made 109 tackles, one fumble recovery and one sack in 2011.  Branch’s 109 tackles led the team. A total the Raiders don’t want to go without in 2012.

The Raider released corner back Stanford Routt for cap reasons a few weeks ago. So keeping Branch means the team won’t have to replace half its secondary for 2012. Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said “We are pleased that Tyvon will return to the Raiders in 2012,” Also in the statement from McKenzie said “Tyvon is a talented, productive player who we hope will be wearing the Silver and Black for many years to come. We will continue to work on a long-term deal to make that happen.”
