“Must Win…”

Currently at 7-6, the Oakland Raiders are facing what one must consider a “must win” situation basically for their final 3 games of the season in order to reach the play-offs.  Said Coach Hue Jackson on Monday,  “Every game from here on in for us is a must-win.  If we want to accomplish our goals, which is winning this division, every game, one game at a time, is a must-win.”  After 2 consecutive losses to Miami and Green Bay, the team is reeling for answers as to what has happened the past 2 games that has landed themselves in this predicament.   Many will point to the defense as the reason the Raiders are in this position.   The unit has allowed more points per game (27.2) than any team in the AFC except winless Indianapolis. Only one unit in the NFL has allowed more first downs, and no team has given away more first downs by penalty. The run defense ranks 29th overall.  Oakland has allowed more than 30 points to five teams, at least one team every month. It has allowed more than 30 points in a half three times — nearly one-fourth of the schedule.

Though the Raiders are not one loss away from mathematical elimination, finishing with a flourish might be the only way to avoid conducting exit interviews as early as Jan. 2.  Those interviews, if and when they come, will and should start with everyone who has anything to do with the defense.  “For the most part, our defensive coaches, they get after it with those guys in trying to put in our game plan and get it done,” Jackson said. “We need to get better, period, everywhere we are on this football team — defensively, offensively and special teams.  “I’m not going to sit up here and hammer the defense. I don’t want to do that.”  Jackson went on to say  “We (have to) play better,  to a man, I think every player would feel that way. Those 11 guys who are starters on our defensive football team need to go out and play as well as they can, because they have.”

If the Raiders are to make the play-offs, it seems likely that they will need to win their final 3 games.  Sunday against Detroit is a “must win”   Christmas Eve at Kansas City is now a “must win”  New Years Day against San Diego is also a “must win” game.  A loss in any 3 of these games will basically end the season that at one time looked so promising.

I LOVE MY RAIDERS! I TOTALLY BELIEVE IT is THE DEF. that has taken the steam out of this season. What mean by that is not so much the players. Yet,more of the rehiring of Chuck Bresnahan. I knew our def. would be one if not worse this year. Why no one else did is crazy! It was BRESNAHAN’s def. ‘s back in the SUPER BOWL and PLAYOFF seasons of early 2000’s that were our weakness and KILLED all OUR postseason glory. BRESNAHAN’s record is proof itself. WE CAN’t improve with his defensive coaching!

WE DONT HAVE GANNON OR THAT AMAZING OFFENSE SCORING. THAT WHY WE ARE LOSING CAUSE TEAMS ARE WALKING ALL OVER US AND ABLE TO SCORE WHEN THEY NEED TO OR JUST AT WILL! FUNNY WHEN I POINTED OUT BRESNAHAN’s records and mistake in hiring him at start of season on facebook teams wall. THEY BLOCKED ME FROM WRITING ON THE WALL. lol TRUTH HURTS I GUESS!
