FS Michael Huff Returns To The Silver and Black

Maybe, the Raiders didn’t pursue the cornerback Nnadmi Asomugha enough to have him return back to Oakland, as he flew the coop to the Eagles. But the Raiders earlier today were able to re-sign another important piece to their defense, safety Michael Huff. This was not highly expected but both sides of this story shared mutual interest on having him return to the Raiders.

The transaction is exactly, what the Raiders needed to boost up the young secondary after the departure of Asomugha. The seventh overall pick of the 2006 NFL draft has reportedly re-signed with the Raiders, ending belief of him performing elsewhere.

Last season was Huff’s best year as a professional at the NFL level.  He recorded a career high by finishing the season with four sacks, three forced fumbles and three interceptions. Huff created a statement with his number of tackles during the season by putting up good numbers. He collected 94 tackles while starting 15 games. He began his career as a strong safety, but appears to be fitting well as the free safety for the Raiders where he will continue to grow.

In his college days for the University of Texas he was on the right track to becoming a Pro-Bowl caliber safety in NFL. As a top 10 pick in 2006, Huff still hasn’t lived up to those anticipations, but it seems like he’s finally beginning to come around and cement himself as a solid NFL starter for the Raiders.

  1. Raiders Only says:

I love this signing but we need to get Cromartie! We can not start the 2011 season with just Routt and Johnson at corners.
