Oakland Raiders: Sign Two Undrafted Free Agents, Alan Pelc and Sterling Moore

The Oakland Raiders begin Tuesday morning signing two undrafted free agents lineman Alan Pelc and cornerback Sterling Moore.

Moore, out of SMU, had private workouts with both the Raiders after his Pro Day earlier this year. He’s a bay area guy who grew up a Raiders fan, and made it his goal to make the team. At SMU, he was one of the most athletic guys on the team and ran a 4.55 at his pro day, as he performed for the Raiders he was able to shed off .o5 off the clock on his 40 time and successfully ran a 4.50.

Moore was moving his way up in the public’s eye, but had knee injury eventually sidelining him. However, just four months removed from surgery, he had was able to participate in his Pro Day and the Raiders recognized his determination and ability and didn’t hesitate to bring him in. Back on his pro day, he didn’t do the shuttle drill or the broad jump, but he should be ready to go at this point.

Pelc is the starting guard from North Carolina and is your typical hard-working undrafted free agent. He lacks all of the physical tools, he stands at 6,6 and 305 pounds but plays with a lot of toughness and works as hard as anybody on the field.

As we know Oakland has lots of question marks on the offensive line and Pelc is the first of what will probably be multiple interior signings. Based on his versatility to play either guard spot. He could easily make a reasonable backup on the offensive line to use his abilities this season for the Raiders

Other, 2011 Undrafted Free Agent Signings by the Raiders came later and included fullback James McCluskey Boston College,  defensive lineman Mason Brodine and offensive lineman Ben Lamaak Iowa State followed by Eddie McGee and Bani Gbadyu

Mason Brodine tops this list of rookies. He is solid pickup, as a defensive end he’s now given a chance to become productive in the NFL. Brodine had the Nebraska-Kearney school record for sacks, with 23.5 over four seasons.

Brodine made sure the NFL teams knew who, he was during the Nebraska Cornhusker Proday. The Raiders were the ones he will compete for a job with since they were high on their radar and the scouts liked what they saw.
