5 Reasons Raider Fans should be excited about 2011..

With the lockout all but officially over and behind us, lets take a look at 5 specific reasons that every member of the Raider Nation should be getting excited about the team that will be wearing the Silver and Black for the 2011 NFL season..

#5 – A weak AFC West Division.  The Raiders OWNED the division last year.  All signs point to no one else in the division being any better this season, so the Raiders have an excellent chance at repeating the sweep again in 2011.  The Chiefs seem to be the only team that may have improved, picking up a decent reciever (Jonathan Baldwin) in the draft, but KC also lost LB Mike Vrabel who will be missed.  The chargers cant seem to make anyone happy and will possibly lose a weapon in Malcom Floyd.  Over in Denver, they are at least 2 or 3 years away from competing for anything but worst team in the division and Oakland should roll over the Broncos in both meetings this year.. The division is The Raiders as long as they play well and remain focused.

#4 – Finally a QB that can lead the team.  The Raiders have in Jason Campbell what they have been lacking in for a number of years – a QB who can actually lead the team’s offense and march the team down the field.  Campbell is finding his own with Oakland and knows how to manage the game.  He will have McFadden in the backfield and other weapons at his disposal this year.  I look for Jason to have a solid year and will settle in as a team leader.

#3 – Speaking of offensive weapons, take a look at Zach Miller and Jacoby Ford.  Miller was All-Pro last year, and that was with being #2 at running the ball.  As Oakland looks to spread out the ball more, you know that Zach is going to turn into another prime target for Campbell.  Along with Miller, Jacoby Ford is going to be a big part of The Raiders offense this year.  During the final games of 2010, it seemed that Ford was gaining the trust of Campbell and will turn that trust into big years (and hopefully TD’s) in the 2011 season.  He is a big-play guy with a lot of upside.   On NFL Network, Hue Jackson told the world the Ford would become a “household name” in 2011. This means that Jackson intends to use Ford’s speed and explosiveness to Raiders’ advantage this year.

#2 – A Dominating Defense.  Richard Seymour.. Pretty much every opposing team’s game plan will be based off of him.  He has taken a number of younger guys under his wing (Tommy Kelly, Matt Shaughnessy, Lamarr Houston) and has lead by example.  He will take every opposing team’s double and triple teams to make stars of his teammates.  Add to that the hard hitting Mike Mitchell, 2nd year Rolando McClain and a seemingly awoken Kamerion Wimbley, the Raiders defense seems poised to step up this year and be a major force in the NFL in 2011.

#1 – Darren McFadden – MVP?  Quite possible.  Darren McFadden broke out in spectucular fashion for the Silver and Black in 2010. He was No. 1 in carries over 20 yards and tied for No. 2 with Chris Johnson in carries over 40 yards.  D-Mac finally stayed healthy long enough to use his speed, power and elusiveness to rush for 1,157 yards. He also had seven rushing touchdowns and a yards per carry average of 5.2.  Also, McFadden also had 47 catches, 507 yards, three receiving touchdowns and a 10.8 yards per average.  With Jackson promising to use McFadden even more in the 2011 season, it is a very real possibility that McFadden may eclipse the 2000 year mark this year.  As long as he stays healthy, I believe that the total yards from scrimmage record may be broken by McFadden in 2011.

There ya have it.. 5 SOLID reasons that every Oakland Raider fan has reason to be getting excited about this years team.  As I said in my earlier prediction when the schedule was released, I see Oakland going 11-5 in the 2011 season and taking the AFC Western Division crown.  Stay tuned.. ML

lol, you got to be kidding right! I love my team yet i can’t and don’t turn a blind eye to all the short comings, lack of a team and I don’t leave in the fantasy world most fans do! Even if we do dominate AFC West it will still most likely be the same as last year where we could beat anyone else! First off campbell as never looked good wirh us or the Redskins! Than we lost our best reciever Zach Miller and our best defense player Numi! The draft was a joke and we didn’t sign anyone that would improve the team! than i wonder why this was? I found out we we 120 million over the salary cab! wtf Who are we paying don’t have any superstars except for our kickers! lol We should ask who is running the team and the books cause they suck! Look at the Patriots so many big name and not even close to cap problems we have! pathdetic if ya ask me! we did not improve what so ever from last year at all in any aspect! Well accept maybe hiring Greg Biekert as a coach! That doesn’t matter cause we hire our old defense coordinator! That is a joke in itself! The man pretty much was the reason we lost the super bowl and his defenses have sucked whereever he has coached. last one being the bengals 5 years ago last in the league the 2 yrs he was there! there really are no reasons let alone 5 that would say we will be better than last year! I hate that too it’s like I’m living the 80’s,90’s and the last 10 years over again! take all the fun out of watching football when your team is as bad as ours is! Sucks feeling and knowing how the lions fans feel all the time. Well worse cause we were worse than them four times in the last 6 years! lol sucks living in the gruden and madden days all the time! don’t think there will be any Jackson days either.
