Jackson Brings Commitment To Excitement for the Silver and Black

Football News Now has a piece on new Raiders caoch Hue Jackson, and how his new players, despite a lockout keeping the new coach from really getting to know the players, like the energy and presence he brings to the team.

He’s a very energetic coach, very competitive, he’s fiery. . . never a dull moment,” quarterback Jason Campbell recently said about his coach. “He brought a lot to the team last year coming over from Baltimore and about having that winning attitude and having that winning mindset.”

“He’s a high energy guy,” defensive tackle Richard Seymour said in an interview on SiriusXM. “And just with his enthusiasm…I’m very excited that I have him as head coach, and he’s gonna be a great head coach for the Oakland Raiders.”

Unapologetic for his enthusiastic swagger, Jackson’s belief the Raiders will be relevant for the first time since 2002 isn’t so much speculation as it is foregone conclusion.

“This is going to be about the 2011 Raiders,” Jackson told NFL.com’s Steve Wyche. “Not the 2012 Raiders. We have that expectation now. We’re not expecting to win two years from now, three years from now. We expect to win now.”

Granted, this isn’t the first time in the history of the NFL, a new head coach believes they can win now, but as the Raiders’ offensive coordinator, Jackson turned around an offense that was the league’s 2nd worst in 2009 to number ten last year. So, it’s no surprise that 25 players recently got together for workouts in Atlanta to try and build off last year’s first non-losing season in eight season.

“It tells me that the message I’ve been sending since the day I became head coach, that players are buying in — that there is an expectation here again in Oakland,” Jackson said.
