Raiders Take to the Pool as Part of Their Workouts

National Football Post reports that as part of their workouts, the Raiders have taken to swimming.

As part of the Oakland Raiders’ efforts to stay in shape during the NFL lockout, they’re hitting the swimming pool.

The Raiders went swimming today during a workout in Lawrenceville, Ga. organized by defensive lineman Richard Seymour.

“It’s just getting them moving, getting their heart rate up and then we finish off with the (heavy resistance rubber) band work,” Competitive Edge Sports founder Chip Smith said. “Some of these guys can’t swim. That’s OK. We put flotation devices on them, but hopefully we teach them a life skill.”

Rookie second-round center Stefen Wisniewski is a non-swimmer.

Raiders outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley said he plans to incorporate the swimming workout into his repertoire.

“It’s a total body workout,” Wimbley said. “You work every muscle you can possibly think of. Your heart is pounding hard, and it’s a very strenuous cardiovascular workout. There’s everything tested in this workout.”
