NFL Lockout Puts Lock On Wisniewski Family Talk

The NFL Lockout has provided a bizarre experience for the 2011 rookies but perhaps none are as weird as that of Oakland Raiders rookie center Stefen Wisniewski. Wisniewski, the nephew of Raiders legendary Steve “Wiz” Wisniewski, has broken off all communications with his uncle because he’s worried about getting into trouble.

“I haven’t talked with him at all, because that’s kind of a fine line,” Stefen Wisniewski recently told Pro Football Weekly. “He’s a coach first, I think, so I’ve kind of been treating it like that. So I haven’t talked with him since the draft. When they drafted me, I got to talk to him. I think he’s just as excited as I am.”

As odd an experience as it currently is the Wisniewskis, the end of the lockout will give Little Wiz the unique experience of being coached by Wiz, an eight-time Pro Bowl player and a member of the NFL 1990?s All-Decade Team. Until then, the former All American from Penn State can only wait for the chance to not only follow his uncle’s path, but to clear a path for Raiders running backs like Darren McFadden.

“I’m really excited to get to block for McFadden, he’s a beast,” Stefen Wisniewski said. “He can make us look good because he can run through people and you know, as an offensive line, we’ll try and make him look good, too. But he’ll definitely be a great guy to block for.”
