Raiders Hire Al Saunders as New Offensive Coordinator

The Raiders have officially hired longtime NFL assistant Al Saunders as their offensive coordinator.

The Raiders updated their coaching roster on their website Tuesday. The only newcomer on the list is Saunders, although there are still many other openings to fill, most notably defensive coordinator.

Among the coaches from last season’s team no longer listed on the site are offensive line coach Jim Michalczik, quarterbacks coach Paul Hackett, linebackers coach Mike Haluchak, assistant offensive line coach Chris Morgan, and passing game coordinator Ted Tollner.

Most of the other coaches from last season’s team are at the Senior Bowl in Alabama with new head coach Hue Jackson, who was hired to replace Tom Cable last week.

Saunders spent the past two seasons as an offensive consultant in Baltimore. He was on the same staff as Jackson in 2009. Jackson joined the Raiders this past season as offensive coordinator.

Seriously…who cares. Sadly, your owner is making the Raiders the laughing stock of the league. How many head coaches has Davis hired and fired? In reality, unless someone takes charge the daily parade of dysfunctionalism will continue. Davis was an embarrasement. Oh sure he took some “credit,” for recent mistakes. Like the wide receiver bust a few years back. Most people in the NFl had him in the 2nd or 3rd round, some lower than that. Not Al…he’s the man! Jamarcus Russell…colossal bust. Coaching staff..Tom Cable…a morbidly obese who breaks the jaw of one of his assistants, and smacks women around. Nice… Kiffin…pathetic. I feel for Hue Jackson, having to acquiesce to Davis, or even have to deal with his mental disabilities. Next year, you won’t be 8-0 even in what was a weak division. Promise Raider Nation this…you will be in last place. KC, has leadership, and a QB, and a coach the players want to play for. Denver, John Fox can defensively scheme with the best of them, and they will improve. Even the ever overated Chargers, will compete. At best you are 6-10, 2012 maybe 8-8. Then lather, rinse, repeat. Another coach, another crisis…heck, maybe another lawsuit against Oakland and the NFL for not co-opertaing with a new stadium. I wouldn’ put it past the little meglomaniac to move back to Los Angeles..again..Lather, rinse, repeat…
