Raiders Chargers Game Preview

When your special teams and defense scores put up 14 points by themselves and responsible for another 5, that usually leads to an easy win, right?  Not with the Raiders, but a win is a win is a win.  And a missed field goal is all between the Raiders being 3-2 and in the division hunt.  Let’s review…

Put up Points

Yep…as a TEAM.  Special teams was great, the D really took it on the chin but stood in there and made plays when needed.  The offense really did a horrible job sustaining any offense in the first half but validated themselves in the the second half by finishing drives.  Great job by the OL, they did a great job of keeping the QB’s clean.

Let Nnamdi cover Antonio Gates

Nope…and then to compound it, they left Nnamdi on one side of the field and not covering Malcolm Floyd all over the field.  Horrible secondary defense as Rivers threw for over 400 yards.

Make them kick field goals

Nope.  Big play galore for the Chargers, they were just chucking it down the field.  And a lot of it fell on Michael Huff, who played a horrible game.  Big plays accounted for all the Chargers TD’s.

2010 draft picks, wake up!!!

Eh.  Rolando McClain played great, he was all over the field.  The continued flipping/flopping of Jared Veldheer and Mario Henderson means that 1 has not taken over the job, and that is bothersome except that Veldheer at least is a rookie.  Interesting will be whether the Raiders recognize how horrible Huff played and give Stevie Brown a chance.

So how the hell did they do it…in watching the game, I honestly don’t know!  Great job in the 2nd half by the offense, they let their defense rest which in turn allowed the defense to close the game (how many times did Solomon Wilcotts say that in the game!!!!).  This was their best performance in a long time because this was in the division which means way more than winning against the Bengals or Eagles last year.

It is now officially 9er week, let the fun begin!!!
