Raiders Texans Game Review

Another tough loss, and being there, they have absolutely no advantage playing at home.  The 30,000 announced could have easily filled out the bottom portion of the stadium and the upper deck would have been empty.  Let’s review the game quickly…

1.  Pressure Matt Schaub

Nope.  They didn’t get into his face enough and  his face (0 sacks and qb hits) and therefore no turnovers.

2.  Contain Arian Foster

Nope.  They not only didn’t contain Foster, but neither Derrick Ward.  2 runs accounted for 107 of their 249 rushing yards.  More specifically, Rolando McClain did not have a good game at all.

3.  Move the ball in the air

Eh.  Bruce Gradkowski did a good job moving the ball in the air, but the OL allowed 4 sacks and 3 QB hits that killed their first possession and their last possession in the first half.

4.  Be Creative in the Red Zone

Yep.  Play action passing and dragging Zack Miller across the field were better than the throw it up in the air to their WR’s.

5.  Let Nnamdi blanket Andre Johnson

N/A.  Johnson didn’t play, and the WR’s as a whole didn’t do much, but the middle of the defense allowed the TE’s and RB’s to get the ball in space and make plays.

No surprise by the final score as the Texans have beaten the Raiders 4 out of the last 5 years.  It was discouraging to see how the fan base is for all intents and purposes not into this team, and I can’t blame them.  They don’t have a superstar to attach themselves to and the team has not won more than 5 games since 2002.  Another 2 losses and I expect that Tom Cable will be fired and it will be back to square 1…again.
