Raiders and Bears Pre-Season Game Preview

Game 1 in the books, onto Game 2 for the Raiders.  5 key things to watch:

*Offensive line

Rod Marinelli is now the D coordinator for the Bears and they will bring pressure.  I expect Jared Veldheer will get time with the 1st team because the Raiders have to find out if he is a #1 immediately and not wait anymore.

*Defensive line

LaMarr Houston is a stud, and with Jay Richardson out, he’s going to see plenty of time.  With a Mike Martz defense, the cornerbacks are going to see play, so it is important to get pressure right up the middle in the face of Jay Cutler.  Expect plenty of action from this group.

*Offensive Consistency

Jason Campbell needs to sustain 1 to 2 drives right off the bat.  Keep the defense off the field and get the offense moving.  Another game like last week, and they’ll see boo birds coming when they return home next week.

*RB Battle

Michael Bush will have another shot to take the #1 back with Darren McFadden out.  If he does not have a good showing though, watch out for Rock Cartwright and Michael Bennett.  They showed speed and power last week, and will see time if Bush doesn’t take the lead.

*QB Backup Battle

Is Kyle Boller finally going to realize his talent and grab the opportunity not only to back up Jason Campbell, but also be in a position to play in an offense that he knows if Campbell struggles?  It will be interesting to see who gets the most reps between Boller, Bruce Gradkowski and Colt Brennan.
