The Oakland Tribune says that new Raiders starter Jason Campbell will be given a little honeymoon by fans since they are just happy to have JaMarcus Russell out of Oakland:
Raiders QB Jason Campbell will be given the benefit of the doubt by Oakland fans this year at the beginning, simply because he will be replacing QB JaMarcus Russell, who became one of the most disliked players in the history of the franchise. However, Campbell’s honeymoon will last until he fumbles a snap or forces an interception. Campbell has went through a new offense virtually every season, as his career has had a revolving door of offensive coordinators and systems. While the Raiders said the starting job was a competition, Campbell received the majority of the first-string work during the summer. The Raiders have finished near the bottom in passing the past four years, so it will be difficult for Campbell to do any worse than previous Oakland quarterbacks.
