As camp nears, one of the areas that was not addressed is the safety position. The Raiders made the effort to better the run D, which means that one the least tested areas of their defense, defensive backfield, will see more action. The worry isn’t Nnamdi Asomugha or Chris Johnson, the concern is the present depth chart at safety accounted for a meager 3 INT’s last year.
The Raiders should consider bringing Mike Brown into camp. He has definitely lost a step and is injury prone, but may give some education to the backfield on having a nose for the ball (and the KC Chiefs playbook too!). They have to have better production from that spot in creating turnovers, and bringing in a veteran leader as Brown may do the trick.
