Russell says he’ll keep showing up till told to stop

It’s a big story that JaMarcus Russell is even on the team at this point, and today he was at the Raiders mini-camp, and says that he’ll keep showing up till he’s told not to:

Embattled Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell practiced today. The question of whether he’ll continue to do so and remain a part of the team is unresolved. Russell said he’ll keep working until he’s informed of a change in his status. He has been the subject of rumors that he could be released due to his high salary and ineffective play.

Russell answered several questions, but the interview was interrupted quite a few times by a Raiders minder, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

“Only thing I’ m here to do is compete until we get the word,” said Russell, adding that he hasn’t been called by Raiders coach Tom Cable recently. “My thing is to keep coming out to work until they tell me not to. Until then, I’m going to keep coming out, compete for the job and keep working my tail off.”

When asked about whether he had spoken with Cable, Eddie Anderson, the Raiders minder, chimed in: “Excuse me, we’re not going to discuss that. That’s not a big deal.”

  1. Floyd P, Hicks says:

Get rid of him now; he’s not even worth the n f l minumum for even a poor backup quarterback!! Jamarcus Russellis an annoying distraction and if the Raiders are serious about fielding a competitive team, they will give Jason Campbell all the reps he requires to learn their system and stop wasting valuable time with Jamarcus Russell taking snaps unless he wants to show the other quarterbacks how not to be even a reasonably decent quarterback or professional player for that matter; I’ve followed the Raiders since 1963 and Jamarcus Russell makes Jay Schrader look like Kenny Stabler!!
