Richard Seymour went on a local radio station in Cincinnati and replied to an old teammate’s question “You can mark it down. The Raiders will be in the playoffs”. Of course, the national and local media had a field day with his comments, trying their best to knock down the Raiders whenever possible.
What was he suppose to say? No, we suck…
Similar to Tom Cable’s reply, there is no issue with this as a Raider fan. Every year we wonder and imagine is this the year… and in all honesty, what fan in the NFL doesn’t think like this? A team wins one or 2 games, all fans stare at the standings and start the “well, if they just win this game or that, they can make it!”
The Raiders on the field have many issues, but they have 2 wins and could have beaten the Chargers. Yes, the other 3 games were not that close, but all that matters is that they win or lose, and nothing else. So after a big win against a Super Bowl contender, why not have some hope that something different is going to happen?
Maybe next time these media types should look Richard Seymour in the eyes when they make fun of his comments. See if they have the same attitude then…I highly doubt it!
