USA Today spoke to former Bengals QB Boomer Esiason, who says that the Raiders are hurting themselves with starting JaMarcus Russell:
Former NFL QB Boomer Esiason said today that Raiders owner Al Davis and coach Tom Cable are fooling themselves thinking that JaMarcus Russell is the right quarterback to lead that team. “When will Tom Cable and Al Davis recognize that JaMarcus Russell is not ready to be a big time quarterback in this league?” said Esiason, now an analyst for CBS Sports. Cable said earlier this week he does not intend to dump Russell as his starter. Russell was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2007 draft, but has struggled this year and completed just 41% of his passes.

All the hipe that Russell was a great quaterback is a bunch of bull. He is just an overpaid practice player. He may look good for the practice but come game time he is not up to par. He needs to be benched and get a better quaterback out there. I agree with boomer Al Davis and the new head coach need to dump russell.
