
The Raiders have been known to give up on players in the past, and they did that again on Thursday, moving two-time Pro Bowler Derrick Burgess to the Pats for draft picks.
The Raiders could not get defensive end Derrick Burgess to report to training camp, so they traded the two-time Pro Bowler to the Patriots for two draft picks Thursday.
So ends a nine-day holdout from Burgess, who joins Randy Moss, LaMont Jordan and Andrew Walter as players who disgruntled their way out of Oakland and straight to New England since 2007.
“Anytime you have a talent like Burgess that commands the respect and double teams that he did, it’s definitely a huge loss,” Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha said at training camp in Napa.
“He was able to get guys to rally around the way he played the game.”
