It’s unusual for a team to cut a draft pick before training camp even starts, but let’s just say that the Raiders don’t usually follow the rules in a lot of things your supposed to do right. The Raiders Monday made a rather shocking announcement when they released sixth-round draft choice DE Stryker Sulak.

No reason was given as to the release, as it didn’t appear in anyway that Sulak had any off field issues that would have prompted the release. Aaron Wilson at Pro Football Talk.com reported that Sulak and his agent have yet to be even told about the release.

“Shocked is the best way to put it,” a source told Wilson. “This is a good kid who plays football, hunts and fishes. This is very dysfunctional. I’m shocked that they didn’t even call him to let him know or call his agent. It sounded like the minicamps went well and that he would have a chance to make the club. Of course, signing Greg Ellis might have made it tougher for him to make it. He’ll go through the waiver system and see what happens.”

It would have been one thing if Sulak had been arrested or had some major issue off the field, but to be released for really no reason is very strange. Then again, look at the team that did it – nuff said.
