The Raiders re-signed a pair of free agents Tuesday, guard Cooper Carlisle and tight end Tony Stewart. The team did though lose center Jake Grove to the Miami Dolphins. Carlisle, 31, was an important player to keep because he’s started 31 games over the past two seasons for the Raiders.

Although he made a visit to the Buccaneers, head coach Tom Cable, his offensive line coach the past two seasons, kept in touch, trying to convince him to stay.

According to a source, Carlisle signed a five-year contract. Stewart has been a valuable backup and role player for the offense. He started four games last season and caught 11 passes in 2008.
