Cable Hiring to Be Coming This Week?

Today’s San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Raiders are going to make the league’s worst kept secret finally happen – the team will officially hire Tom Cable as their full-time head coach. Here is the report from today’s edition:

This looks like the week the Raiders finally name interim head coach Tom Cable their full-time hire, five-plus weeks after the season ended. Raiders owner Al Davis told Cable the job was his last week, but the team has decided to squat on the news as it continues to assemble Cable’s coaching staff, a team source said. When that announcement comes, Davis will explain exactly why he’s hiring the assistants and coordinators first, a team official said. Expect it to have something to do with Davis not liking the hires made by former head coaches Lane Kiffin and Art Shell.

It was thrown out there about a week ago that Cable was going to get the job, and now that it looks as if it’s going to happen, Cable will have to get out there and get some assistant coaches. Cable sealed his fate as far as the job went with beating the Texans and Bucs the last two weeks of the season.
