The Raiders got some good news about new WR Javon Walker, who was released from the hospital on Wednesday after being beaten and robbed in Las Vegas. The team says that despite the injuries suffered by Walker, it appears that he will be ready to go once the team kicks off training camp next month.

“The info that I have is he’s going to be fine,” coach Lane Kiffin said Wednesday. “Training camp won’t be an issue. … But until our guys look at him, I don’t want to say (the extent of Walker’s injuries).” The Raiders are set to open camp on July 25th in Napa. Kiffin said that Walker was set to fly to Oakland yesterday to be with the team for their final sessions of OTA’s.

“We are aware that Javon Walker was the victim of a robbery,” Raiders spokesman Mike Taylor said in a statement. “We have been told that he will make a full recovery in the near future and resume his preparation for the 2008 NFL season.” There is still not many details about exactly what happened to Walker, other than he was beaten and left on the street in Vegas and robbed of cash and jewlery.

The biggest thing right now is that Walker is going to be okay, but this incident should remind NFL players that they are targets out there, and carrying around large sums of cash and expensive jewlery is not a good idea. The league should make sure to remind players about that as the season nears.

Not sure if you touched on this already, but Mr. Walker may have some legal troubles headed his way. His story just doesn’t add up. Wonder if this is something that’s going to drift into the season.
