Edwards signed to help pass rush

In their continued efforts to improve, the Oakland Raiders have signed defensive end Kalimba Edwards to a 2-year contract. The Raiders have been looking to sign a defensive lineman since the departure of Chris Clemmons going to the Eagles.
Edwards was looking for a new home after being cut by the Detroit Lions earlier this month. So this seems like a perfect fit for both the player and the team. The contract is reported to be worth $5 million dollars.
He was a second round pick by the Lions in the 2002 draft out of the University of South Carolina and has not really lived up to potential. In his 6-year career he has 26 sacks and a total of 125 tackles. His best sack year came in 2005 when he recorded 7 sacks.
