More Reports that Davis May Fire Kiffin After One Year

There has already been reports this offseason of issues between owner Al Davis and coach Lane Kiffin, and now Pro Football Weekly is reporting that the coach may be on his way out of Oakland after just one season.  The story goes that Davis might be looking at getting rid of Kiffin after the coach looked at the chance of moving on to one of two open college positions - Arkansas, or Michigan.

The issue may also stem from the fact that Kiffin wanted defensive coordinator Rob Ryan fired after another poor season of run stopping for the Raiders, but Davis reportedly nixed the move and wanted to keep Ryan.  There was also word that the two did not agree over certain players making up the 53-man roster.  Bottom line is that Davis still wants to have a say in each move the Raiders make, while Kiffin wants to do things his way.

“Lane is going to stand up to Al,” a source said in Pro Football Weekly. “In a lot of ways, he’s a young Jon Gruden. But he is not stupid and is not going to quit.”  Which means that if Al wants a true “yes man,” he’s going to have to flat out fire Kiffin, who at one point with a team in transition had the Raiders at 2-2 this season.  Davis will have his way, and if he wants Kiffin gone, look for it to happen soon and for the Radiers, once again, to be in the market for a coach.
