Trouble in the Works Between owner Al Davis and coach Lane Kiffin?

Could trouble be in the works between Raiders owner Al Davis and coach Lane Kiffin? That’s the story out by ProFootballTalk.com, and it stems from the Raiders announcing today that defensive coordinator Rob Ryan will be staying with the team. The site is reporting that Kiffin wanted Ryan, who has been with the team for five seasons, out as coordinator after the team stunk this year stopping the run. Davis reportedly likes Ryan, and blocked the move, upsetting Kiffin. The site is also stating the Davis polled the players on if they liked Ryan over Kiffin. While the results were not made known, Davis reportedly did the same thing a year ago before firing Art Shell. Bottom line is that Al has his hands in the mix again when it comes to coaching and personal, and it’s one big reason why the Raiders are truly in the rut they are in right now.

The Raiders are in the funk because of Big Al the silver and black are dommed as long as big Al has a pulse. Why do you trade Randy I quite on my team Moss to a contender? The player the Raiders recieved was John Bowie now he is a game breaker without ever playing a down. The Raiders will go 3 and 13 in 2008 and no doubt we will be in the market for a new coach. Al Davis is the source of the problem he needs to step aside.

Here we go again, it looks as though Kiffin is being “Grudenised” by comotose Al. I just don’t understand this stuff anymore. Al finds these great up and coming coaches, gives them a shot, and then vetos every effort for them to make the team better. Al said he is not stepping down until the raiders win 2 more Super Bowls. Hollllly Tollllledo, somebody please take this guy out will ya!! The Raider Nation will be looking for a new coach again before the 2008 season begins, mark my word.

These rumors are becoming laughable…
Al Davis polling his players??? Are you kidding me!? He wouldn’t waste his time.

If I were Lane Kiffin, I would leave the Alameda facility immediately if Al Davis blocks him from letting Ryan go. As a Raider fan, I like Rob Ryan, but if the head coach feels that there is a need for change in the defensive scheme then so-be-it! That’s why he is the head coach. I didn’t think that our defense was that great last year. #1 against the pass meant that no team actually “had” to pass against us beacuse we couldn’t stop the run anayway, just like this year. Al Davis will always be an icon in sports but shoul have learned by now that being stubborn will get you no where. Just look at the last 5 seasons and last 3 coaches before Coach Kiffin. All are good coaches that never got the chance to put their stamp on the Oakland Raiders.
