Kiffin Says He Sees Russell Playing Sunday vs Jags
Posted by Matt Loede on December 18th, 2007 filed in NewsA day after their disappointing 21-14 loss to the Colts, Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin said quarterback JaMarcus Russell could see some playing time this Sunday against Jacksonville. “I anticipate him playing this week and getting him some more opportunities to play. Hopefully, it will go better than it did last week,” Kiffin said on the Raiders’ web-site. The first-round draft pick started the second half, played only three series and finished the day just 2-of-5 passing for 10 yards. Asked if he’s picking things up while on the sidelines, Kiffin said “Yeah, I think he’s learning a lot. There is a lot to be learned from not playing as you see other people making mistakes and you see other things happening.” Kffin made no mention of the fact running back Justin Fargas will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury in the loss to the Colts. The Raiders play their final road game this Sunday morning in Jacksonville against the Jaguars.
