Despite suffering from a bruised thigh, Daunte Culpepper is expected to get the start at quarterback this Sunday as the Oakland Raiders play host to the Denver Broncos. When asked yesterday on the Raiders’ web-site about the situation with Culpepper and the possibility of JaMarcus Russell making his debut, head coach Lane Kiffin said “Culpepper came into practice today with his thigh bothering him. He was limited in practice today. What does that mean? I don’t know. As far as Russell, we are still looking at some things with him and he took some reps and is doing well.”

Meanwhile, Kiffin had nothing but praise for the job Culpepper’s been doing in mentoring the former LSU standout. “He has done a fabulous job and that’s just priceless for our future to have Daunte here. That’s where JaMarcus can say “this guy has done it, this guy has been to the Pro Bowl. He knows what he’s doing” Kiffin said.
