Jordan Asks Team for Release; May Get It

It has been a difficult season for the Raiders after they started the year looking like they were on their way back to being a force in the National Football League. The team has dropped their last six games since a 2-2 start, and now there may be more problems, and this may be off the field with one player that started the season red hot.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting today that running back LaMont Jordan has asked the team to release him. Jordan has not been a happy camper as of late, as he was hurt with a back injury earlier in the year, and despite stating he is back and ready to go, he’s been benched the last two games in favor of back Justin Fargas.

The Chronicle is stating that Jordan asked for his release Monday after not playing on Sunday in Minnesota against the Vikings. The team may actually follow through with the request according to the story, as with the season lost, the team may let Jordan go and activate draft choice Michael Bush, who has been inactive this season recovering from a broken leg.

Jordan began the season like a house of fire, rushing for 424 yards in the teams first four games when they were 2-2. He rushed for 159 yards in a week two loss to the Broncos, and then the following game ran for 121 yards in a 26-24 win over the Browns. There is enough gas in the tank to where if Jordan is released, he’ll get picked up by some team.
