McCown To Start Against Bears

Despite his struggles in last weekend’s loss to the Houston Texans, Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin yesterday said Josh McCown will get the start at quarterback this Sunday as Oakland plays host to the Chicago Bears. When asked on the team’s web-site which quarterback took the majority of snaps yesterday, Kiffin quickly replied “McCown. Josh will be our starter.” The 28-year old McCown went 13-of-28 passing for 158 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted three times in Oakland’s 24-17 loss to the Texans. On the subject of top draft pick JaMarcus Russell possibly being elevated to number-two on the depth chart, Kiffin said “There is a chance. I have nothing new for you on him. We’re just working hard with him every day.” Kickoff on Sunday between the Raiders and Bears is set for 1:15 p.m.
