Raiders Going Back to McCown as Their Starting QB
Posted by Matt Loede on November 1st, 2007 filed in NewsThe Raiders are going back to their opening day starting QB, as Josh McCown gets the nod this week against the Texans over Daunte Culpepper. McCown was the starter for the opener and played the first two and a half games before leaving the Cleveland game in week three with a broken right big toe. Culpepper will be the backup, and rookie JaMarcus Russell will be the number three QB. “Coach said he doesn’t feel anybody should lose their job to injury,” Culpepper said. “That’s his decision. Like I said from the first day I got here, when I’m called, I’ll be ready.” McCown said last week that he felt he was ready to go, and says now he’s as close to 100 percent as he has been in sometime. “I feel like I can play my game and do what I do,” McCown said. “The best thing is I know I don’t think about it while I’m out there so it doesn’t factor in to anything.”
