Losing Ways Must Stop Before It’s Too Late

It is apparent that with each loss the Raiders are becoming the same old Raiders, and that is something that first-year head coach Lane Kiffin clearly wants to change.  The team started out the season 2-2, but since have dropped two straight, and have not looked very good in doing so.  Kiffin wants to stop the bleeding now before it gets too late and the snowball keeps rolling.

“First of all, you’re overcoming a losing mentality,” Kiffin said. “You’re overcoming a team that’s very used to losing, so you’ve got to overcome that. You don’t know how long it’s going to take. You’d hope for it to be gone right away.”

The Raiders have had their share of losing over the past few years.  Consider since they went to the Super Bowl back some four years ago, they have won just 17 of 70 games since then, and have not even sniffed a playoff spot.  The bottom line is the team needs to stop committing silly mistakes, and get back to playing to the level they did when they were .500.

“It’s not here we go again,” Kiffin said. “You’re ahead in the fourth quarter in 5-of-6 games. That’s not something where, ‘Oh, we have so many things to fix and here we go again. Same old Raiders.'”  If they don’t start winning, those lines will have no choice but to creep in the fans and the players’ heads all over again.
