Jordan’s Hurting Back May Hurt Raiders Chances Sunday
Posted by Matt Loede on September 21st, 2007 filed in NewsThe Raiders will look to take the air out of the ball this weekend when they host the suddenly high powered Cleveland Browns. It will be a lot easier to do that with a 100 percent LaMont Jordan, but it looks as if Jordan will be a bit banged up coming into the week three contest. Jordan didn’t take the practice field Wednesday, but did go through the session yesterday and is expected to be back today as well. The back is suffering from a back injury, and it’s been an issue for him since last season when he hurt it the first time vs the Cardinals.
Lane Kiffin didn’t exactly give a total thumbs up to Jordan, and was not sure about how much, if at all, he’ll be able to go Sunday. “This one was aggravating him more than just a taking-a-day-to-rest type situation,” Kiffin said. “He felt better (Thursday). He did most of the work but he didn’t as much as he normally does.” Jordan has been a beast the first two games, with 229 rushing yards, fifth in the NFL. He’s averaging 5.7 yards a carry and has a rushing score.
Justin Fargas and possibly Adimchinobe Echemandu would be the backups if Jordan can’t go, putting quite a bit of pressure on the passing game which last week was nowhere to be found in the teams overtime loss to the Broncos. Quarterback Josh McCown (foot) was limited in practice Thursday but is expected to play.
