McCown to start Pre-Season Opener
Posted by Michael Loede on August 11th, 2007 filed in NewsQB Josh McCown has been given the starting job tonight in Oakland’s pre-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals at McAfee Stadium. McCown spent 4 years with the Cards and last year on Detroit’s bench before coming to the Silver & black in a draft day trade. Number 1 pick J Russell remains unsigned and McCown is now in a 3 way battle with A Walter and the recently signed D Culpepper to determine who will be Oakland’s starting QB when the season kicks off against Detroit on Sept 9th. McCown, 28, is starting tonight basically because he has been the most consistent in camp. Going up against a first team defense will show the coaches how much of a grasp that McCown has of the new Raider offense. ” I’m going to work as hard as I can, and I feel like I am playing at a high level. ” McCown was quoted as saying.
