Another big date on the football calendar is just days away– the opening of NFL training camps. The Oakland Raiders are the first Bay Area team to open camp this season with a date set for this Thursday at the Napa Valley Marriott. New head coach Lane Kiffin begins the long road of trying to bring the franchise back to respectibility after the Raiders stumbled to a 2-and-14 record last season– their worst mark in over 40 years. The Raiders are banking on the hopes that JaMarcus Russell is their quarterback of the future. The LSU product was taken number-one overall in April’s NFL Draft.
