California Supreme Court Denies New Trial For Raiders In Suit Against NFL

The California Supreme Court has denied a new trial for the Oakland Raiders in their lawsuit against the National Football League.  The Raiders, then playing in Los Angeles, had sued the NFL for more than a billion dollars in 1995, charging the league with sabotaging its attempts to get a new stadium at Hollywood Park in order to force the team to move.  A jury returned a verdict in favor of the league in 2001, but the judge set the verdict aside and granted a new trial because of alleged improper conduct by at least one of the jurors.  However, the state supreme court ruled Monday that the judge in the case had not specified which jurors acted improperly or what was improper about their actions.
