Free agent safety Donovan Darius was in Oakland on Wednesday, sitting down with the Raiders about the shot to join them for the 2007 season. Darius toured the Raiders facility, and had a sit down with owner Al Davis. He was impressed with what the Raiders had to offer, but left without signing a deal with the silver and black. The 32-year-old is also getting interest from the Carolina Panthers, who need major help at the safety position, and the Buffalo Bills.
Darius has had a tough last two seasons, as he suffered a broken bone in his leg and missed the last six games of 2006, and in 2005 he played in only two games after suffering a torn ACL. “The Raiders made me feel welcome in every way,” Darius said on InsideBayArea.com. “We (Darius and his wife) have some decisions to make. We’ll pray on them, and check out all our options before we make a decision.”
